Again a new post on speedos… This swimwear category which leave little part to imagination as far as the “men jewels” are concerned, is compulsory in the public swimming pools in a country like France. The reason behind that is that long swimwear like bermudas or long swimming shorts can be worn elsewhere during the day and could bring dust or anther matter which can disturb the water quality. In addition If some people are wearing underwear under the bermuda it cannot be detected.

Interestingly enough, in some countries like USA, some states are banning the speedos. In the UK , the major tourist attraction park , Alton Towers banned speedos “on the grounds of fast” !!!! . This is the statement (somehow ridiculous) of the Sales & Marketing Director of the Park :

“Alton Towers Resort sales and marketing director Morwenna Angove said “We feel this small brief style is not appropriate for a family venue so we are advising male bathers to wear more protective swimwear such as shorts.”

And to be even more ridiculous added:

“The resort is also considering introducing mandatory bikini waxing for men, in a bid to prevent unsightly hair from being on display.

We are also looking into offering complimentary male waxing, which will ensure preserve the dignity of all our guests.”

But maybe the real reason is somewhere else:

Alton Towers today made the decision to close it’s gates once again, due to the poor weather conditions which are currently affecting the park and surrounding area. (April 29th, 2012)

So we can understand that the management of the park is very cautious and don’t want the visitors to catch a cold by wearing a too tiny brief!

We can find similar regulation or willingness to regulate the size of the swimwear in some States in USA and in Egypt the Muslim Brothers are lobbying the government to ban bikini and speedos for tourists.
